Field and Stream Rescue Team

  • Turning down your home's thermostat by 1% will save about 10% on your fuel bill.

  • Migratory birds need to "retire" in coffee-growing South America. Buying certified shade-grown java helps ensure that they have a place to go.

  • By washing your car in your driveway that the soaps containing phosphorus, nitrates and other harmful chemicals wash right into our creeks and end up in our Great Lakes.

  • By cutting your grass right down to the stream you are allowing for runoff containing fertilizers and pesticides to run directly into the water. Also you are removing cover for animals that need protection from predators. Allow at least a 4-foot buffer zone.

  • Most car wash stations recycle their water which protects our environment.

  • Homeowners create more toxins that flow into our lakes than industries.

  • Field and Stream Rescue Team was nominated for the Ralph Sherwood Conservation Award in their first year of operation by the Halton Region Conservation Authority.

Be sure to check back often. We will be constantly posting new facts to test your knowledge of the environment and our impact on it.
