Kerncliff Park Clean Up
Volunteers are invited to come out and help Field and Stream Rescue Team and Friends of Kerncliff Park with our last clean up of the season.
There has been a lot of dumping over the edge of the escarpment within this park and we want to remove the garbage and clean up some of the great habitat along the escarpment. Much of the waste is made up of broken glass and volunteers are asked to bring a pair of sturdy shoes/rubber boots, heavy work gloves, a bucket or bag made of heavy material and sun protection.
Field and Stream Rescue Team will provide some buckets, gloves, sunscreen and bugspray for the clean up
We hope to see everyone at this event as it will be our last event until the end of the summer.
June 16, 2007 Appleby Creek Restoration
Creek Restoration
You and your families are invited to join with Field and Stream Rescue Team and Walker Industries for a community creek clean up and planting of native tress and shrubs along Appleby Creek beside the Norjohn Transfer Station on June 16th from 9:00am to 12:00pm.
Please meet in the back parking lot of the Appleby Ice Arena on Appleby Line. All ages are welcome to participate in this great event. Teenagers will receive a notice of recommendation that is suitable for resumes and are eligible to receive volunteer hours towards graduation.
Everything needed for the planting and clean up will be provided from shovels to gloves. This event will take place rain or shine so please dress appropriately for the weather. Hats and sunscreen are recommended.

Field and Stream Rescue Team is teaming up with Ground Breakers of Oakville, Evergreen Canada and the City of Oakville to do our second planting in this park. The project will naturalize the park greenbelt and provide wildlife habitat and corridors for migrating birds.
All the equipment required for the planting will be provided by FSRT and the City of Oakville.

Tuck Creek Cleanup
Field and Stream Rescue Team is Carrying out its Seventh Annual Community Clean-up of Tuck Creek! This area has been targeted every year since 2001 and it is always a struggle. It is heavily used by people in the neighbourhood and each year Field and Stream Rescue Team volunteers pull over a tonne of debris and garbage from the stream allowing it to flow properly again.
Volunteers are encouraged to come out and give the community a hand picking up garbage and cleaning out debris from the creek. The cleanup will occur at Landsdown Park between Palmer Road and Mainway, in the City of Burlington. The meeting location will be at the parking lot of Lansdown Park on Palmer Road, City of Burlington.

September 23, 2006 Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup of Tuck Creek
Field and Stream Rescue Team is looking for volunteers to help out the community by participating in The TD Canada Trust Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup of Tuck Creek. The section we will be focusing on is located behind Lester B. Pearson High School. This area is heavily used by students and other members of the neighbourhood and collects debris which ultimately impeeds the flow of the creek.
We will be meeting at Lansdown Park on Palmer Road, City of Burlington.

June 24, 2006 Grindstone Creek/Smokey Hollow Falls, Waterdown
Come out for our 2nd Annual Clean-Up of this picturesque location bordering the Bruce Trail in Waterdown. FSRT staff and volunteers had a successful clean-up event here in 2005 and we will be retuning again in 2006 to clean-up the area. It is a popular spot to stop for a picnic lunch and therefore gets heavily used and abused. All volunteers welcome!
June 3, 2006 Tuck Creek at Billings Court Manor
Volunteers are needed to help naturalize Tuck Creek, just south of the QEW. Field and Stream Rescue Team has partnered up with the Burlington Sustainable Development Committee and local bussiness (lead by Billings Court Manor) to plant a wide variety of native species and remove invasive grape vines that are strangling out other plants. For the fourth year in a row, FSRT, with the support of the City of Burlington, will plant native trees and shrubs to rehabilitate Grindstone Creek at Hidden Valley Park. This area has under gone a large rehabilitation by the City of Burlington, Department of Fisheries and Oceans, Halton Conservation Authority and Ministry of Natural Resources. All volunteers welcome!
April 29, 2006 Second Annual Earth Jam 2006
Come out to this fun, music filled night to celebrate Earth Week and Field and Stream Rescue Team! Bands this year will be: A Touch of Grey, Kaffeine, Star Vega and The Quadraphonics. Tickets are $10 and are on sale from the FRST office, 905-525-3778. All proceeds go to Field and Stream Rescue Team's efforts. Field and Stream Rescue Team, along with Halton Conservation is planning a day long Earth Day Planting Event as part of Conservation Halton's Trees for Watershed Health program. Come visit us at the 6th Annual Halton Eco Festival @ the Glen Abbey Rec Centre! Field and Stream Rescue Team will have a booth set up for this 2 day event and we will be there to talk about our rehabilitation efforts and community education programs. We'll be looking for volunteers to help staff our booth and sell Ducks! The event runs Saturday, April 1st, 10am - 5pm, and Sunday April 2nd, 11am - 4pm. Two day admission is $6 in advance or $10 at the door.

Amazing Adventures Playland has been kind enough to donate their facility to FSRT for a fundraising event. Members, volunteers, and all other concerned citizens are invited to bring out the kids to enjoy the facilities while learning about and supporting our efforts in Halton Region. There is a major problem with erosion in this area and we will be planting native tree species in an attempt to stabilize the bank. We hope to return to this spot in the spring of 2006 to do further restoration work, so this coming event is an important first step. Kick off your school year by completing your volunteer hours with the Field and Stream Rescue Team! Please bring gardening gloves and a shovel if you can! Refreshments provided. To get there, exit the QEW at Burloak St. Head south to Prince William Dr. and turn right (there is a sign at the intersection for Sherwood Forest Park). Drive to the end and turn right. You will see a laneway on the left past the forest. Take this to the last parking lot. At the southwest corner of the lot there is a path that leads into the forest. There is a constant need to clean up this area; candy wrappers, empty water bottles, and pop tins are damaging the aquatic habitat. All volunteers welcome! 16 Mile Creek is in need of our help! Join FSRT and Conservation Halton in planting trees and cleaning up Kelso Conservation Area. Bring your friends, family, neighbours, and lots of energy! A local Family Farm property had the help of FSRT volunteers in the riparian planting of about 100 seedlings, and installation of tree protection. April 30, 2005 Sheldon Creek @ North of New Street
FSRT, with the aid of our Volunteers, will be planting native shrubs as a continuation of last years project on Sheldon Creek. This creek has been straightened by urban development and mowed down to the streams edge. Lack of shade in this section has caused an increase in water temperature to above desirable levels. FSRT will be joining in the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup this year. Not only will we be cleaning up the creek, we will also be collecting important data.
