Project Checklist
Most important: Fill out the on-line project form. This will post your form, send out to many volunteers, and possibly create funds to help buy the materials needed.
- Determine the site and kind of project you want to do (clean-up/planting/rehabilitation)
- Call the city or manuciplaity to find out who owns the land.
- Call the landowner to get permission.
- Do a site survey and visit to determine what kind of project is most needed.
- Create a map of the area and identify issues, garbage, access point, etc.
- Pick a date for your project.
- Plan start time and finish times.
- Contact local businesses to see if they would like to help support.
(ie: contact Tim Hortons to supply coffee/juice/water and water and timbits, contact the city or Home Depot to supply garbage bags, shovels, gloves, etc). - Contact the the local paper and ask if they run an ad the week before the event.
- Create a simple brochure/flyer and hand-out in the neighbourhood close to the project.
