Project Checklist

Most important: Fill out the on-line project form. This will post your form, send out to many volunteers, and possibly create funds to help buy the materials needed.

  1. Determine the site and kind of project you want to do (clean-up/planting/rehabilitation)
  2. Call the city or manuciplaity to find out who owns the land.
  3. Call the landowner to get permission.
  4. Do a site survey and visit to determine what kind of project is most needed.
  5. Create a map of the area and identify issues, garbage, access point, etc.
  6. Pick a date for your project.
  7. Plan start time and finish times.
  8. Contact local businesses to see if they would like to help support.
    (ie: contact Tim Hortons to supply coffee/juice/water and water and timbits, contact the city or Home Depot to supply garbage bags, shovels, gloves, etc).
  9. Contact the the local paper and ask if they run an ad the week before the event.
  10. Create a simple brochure/flyer and hand-out in the neighbourhood close to the project.
